The Birth of Urja: A Journey to Healing Through Gemstone Jewelry

Zariin has been my baby for the last 15 years. I always loved jewelry! My earliest memories take me to my mom’s family jeweller where i would be happily playing model to various pieces she would be looking for. I loved playing dress up with her jewels - from spreading them on the bed and then pretending to be a rajkumari who owned so many ! I would instantly be transported to some fantasy land as soon as I wrapped one of her necklaces around my forehead. Jewelry has the power to add that oomph or aura to anyone who wears it. Zariin was born from this love of jewelry.

10 years into Zariin, as I turned 35 years old and the world was struck with Covid, my personal state of mind needed an anchor. There was too much uncertainty, life was too chaotic, everything seemed transient. I started leaning towards yoga and meditation to bring calmness into my mind. While searching for more tools that I could use, affirmations and manifestations were next in my armour. I now call myself a manifestation junkie. Such is the power of using your mind to attract goodness in your life. It was then during my research for how to amplify my manifestations on health, that I came across what the world calls a master healer - amethyst. The more I dug deeper, I was amazed. We always loved amethysts in our jewelry. What was there not to love about the creamy deep purple hue that shines so bright against our gold. But there was data dating centuries ago, literally from our Vedas that talked about how this stone had the power to bring good health to the wearer. All this was getting me very excited and I knew there was no looking back as I opened myself to the healing world of crystals.

I spent weeks immersing myself into crystals and reading almost every online article that talked about their benefits. I did online courses on them. How did we as a country forget our crystals when our ancient texts were the ones to introduce them to the world? When did jewelry only become an object of aesthetics?

I started my journey with them. I started wearing rose quartz to practice self-love when demands of work became too stressful. I wore a moonstone bracelet to attract a smooth pregnancy and at the age of 38 years old I experienced a dream pregnancy with zero nausea, active till the last day and a smooth childbirth. My belief in the stones strengthened as I witnessed their magic personally. These stones became my constant companions as I began to find comfort in their presence.

I suddenly had a new mission !!! To re-introduce our modern society to the world of crystals.

These crystals that integrated seamlessly in one’s spiritual, emotional and physical journey of transformation. And this led to the creation of URJA - that means ‘energy’ in Sanskrit to share the nurturing power of crystals with everyone. This is not just a collection of jewelry, but a wellness line inspired by these crystals - which can offer balance, strength and protection, just as they did for me during a transformative time of my life.
